Our Story

Built by people who have been there.

OCD RTC was founded by people who have lived with OCD themselves and spent eight years working in mental health at both the outpatient and residential levels of care. This directory exists because we saw firsthand how badly families were being failed by the resources available to them.

The Problem We Solved

Eight years in the field. One glaring gap.

Our team has spent eight years working directly in OCD treatment at the outpatient and residential levels. We have sat with families navigating their first OCD evaluation, helped parents understand the difference between IOP and residential, and supported individuals through the step from outpatient therapy to full residential care. We know this landscape from the inside.

We have also watched families spend weeks researching residential OCD programs only to find outdated phone numbers, placeholder descriptions, programs that closed without notice, and generic directories that could not tell you whether ERP was actually a primary treatment modality or just listed as a checkbox. We built OCD RTC because that resource failure is not acceptable when the stakes are this high.

A family searching for residential OCD treatment at 11pm because their teenager has not left their room in three weeks deserves accurate, specific, verified information. That is what OCD RTC exists to provide.

Lived Experience

We know OCD from the inside.

The founders of OCD RTC have personal experience with OCD. We are not observing this community from a professional distance. We understand the exhausting cycle of obsessions and compulsions, the frustration of being misdiagnosed for years, the specific relief of finally finding a therapist who knows what ERP actually is, and the particular difficulty of explaining to someone why a general CBT therapist is not the same thing as an OCD specialist.

That lived experience shapes every decision we make about this directory. It is why we specify modalities rather than accepting a generic CBT checkbox. It is why we flag whether ERP is a primary treatment focus or an add-on. It is why we verify programs are actively admitting before listing them. We know what those details mean when you are a family trying to make the most important decision of your lives under extreme pressure.

Our Standards

Independent. No referral fees. No paid placement.

OCD RTC accepts no payment from any listed program. There are no paid placements, no enhanced listings for a fee, and no financial relationship of any kind between OCD RTC and the programs we list. Programs appear in the directory based on clinical relevance and verification status only.

We verify listings through direct contact with programs. We confirm current operational status, location, ages served, primary treatment modalities, and whether OCD is a genuine clinical focus of the program rather than a secondary offering. We do not verify clinical quality, individual therapist credentials, or treatment outcomes. We encourage families to verify those things directly with every program they consider, and we have a list of questions to ask on our Not Ready for Residential page.

Every listing shows the date we last verified it. Listings not yet confirmed show a clear Verification Pending indicator. We aim to re-verify every listing at least once a year and update immediately when we learn a program has changed ownership, closed, or significantly changed its services.
